BABES (Beginning Awareness Basic Education Studies): the substance abuse prevention program for children

Maureen will discuss the philosophy and teaching guide of the BABES program, designed to enable children to develop a desire for healthful living and give them the desire to better understand how to protect themselves from alcohol and chemical dependency situations.

Screening - Massacre
Event Location: Longhouse

Federal Indian Law at the Movies with Michael Taylor’s presentation of the 1934 film called Massacre, a story in the backdrop of the corruption of the Indian Bureau, the desperation of reservation people, and John Collier’s work to obtain passage of the Indian Reorganization Act.

Some themes of the movie are current today, such as the abuse of Native women, the problematic position of Indian courts, theft of Indian property by the trustee, and assimilation.
